Some Quick Facts on Climate Change

Is Climate Change Real? Or is it a made up hypothesis from Scientists?

There is no doubt that climate change is a real problem that the world faces amongst all scientists. There is also little doubt that humans are contributing to greenhouse gas emissions (although there is some argumentation of this, usually from some governmental parties and large corporations who contribute vast amounts of greenhouse gasses) ·

  • Carbon is stored everywhere— in plants, soil, the ocean, and even us. It is released through activities such as burning these carbon stores (such as trees and fossil fuels)

  • Today's atmosphere contains 42 per cent more carbon dioxide than it did before the industrial era. ·

  • The climate is presumed to continue warming. As the temperature increases, extreme weather is predicted to become more common. ·

  • Carbon dioxide can stay in the atmosphere for nearly a century. As a result, the Earth will continue to warm in the coming decades

Global warming has already begun.

  • Since 1900, the global average temperature has risen by 0.7 degrees Celsius,

Why Care?

  • A warming climate will bring changes that can affect our water supplies, agriculture, power and transportation systems, the natural environment, and even our own health and safety.·

  • We can reduce the risks we will face from climate change by making choices that reduce greenhouse gas pollution, and prepare for the changes that are already underway.

  • Our decisions today will shape the world our children and grandchildren will live in
